DOVERY MANOR MUSEUM OPENS TODAY – 1st MAY

The Dovery Manor Museum opens today (May 1st) with a special exhibition paying tribute to the people of Porlock during the Second World War, marking the nation’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

The exhibition pays tribute to each of the 13 men from

Porlock who lost their lives at war and to some of the 120 men from the village sent to fight throughout Europe, Africa and the Far East.

It also celebrates those who served at home; in the Home Guard, as Air Raid Wardens, in the Royal Observer Corps, and the many women who supported the war effort through work for the Women’s Voluntary Services and the Red Cross.

This special exhibition will run just for two months during May and June. Don’t miss it.

The Museum is open daily (not Wednesday) 1000-1600. Entrance is free, donations welcomed.
