Future of the Old School Centre – Have your say …

Published: May 16, 2024

… and tell us what you think?

It was recently announced that the Porlock Information Centre will relocate to the Vale Yard in November of this year in a joint venture with Miles Tea & Coffee.

This move provides the Parish Council with an exciting opportunity to consider how it makes best use of the spaces at the Old School Centre.

The Old School Centre will continue to be the home for the Parish Council, The Lovelace Community Resource Centre and the Community Library, but what else could the space be used for?

At the last Council meeting on the 8th May ’24, it was agreed that the Council would ask you the residents of Porlock for your input.

How would you like to see this space used?

What sort of facilities, services or opportunities do you think should be considered?

The space could be used for community services, be let commercially or a combination of both. There is a real opportunity here to do something great for the village.

The space that will become vacant later this year from the 1st November, is currently used as one space, but could be divided into two spaces, to be used separately or together with some imagination. The space in total is approximately 38ft x 20ft consisting of a store, toilet and kitchen facility or two separate spaces being 16ft x 20ft and 22ft x 20ft.

We’d really love to hear your thoughts.

The Council will next meet on the 12th June ’24 when it will discuss the ideas put forward and consider the process and the next steps on deciding the future of the Old School Centre.

So, don’t hold back, send in your ideas:
